BAOBAB GROUP

Who are we?

The BAOBAB GROUP started in 2014 after a holiday stay of the “founders” in Saly/Mbour.

Thanks to Moussa Ka, the guide at that time and today the confidant and coordinator of the activities on the spot, schools were visited in Saly-M’Bour and village communities in the Louga region. Subsequently, it was decided to set up a small-scale organization that would focus on the entities visited. A structure that would only provide the funds and this in function of the needs that the parties in Senegal would indicate themselves. Where possible, the purchase of what is necessary in Senegal itself would also be a matter of keeping the local economy running. In 2017, the association obtained the status of V.Z.W. and various departments were started in Flanders, Wallonia and Spain.

What we do

The BAOBAB GROUP aims to set up small-scale projects in Senegal in the fields of education, health care, horticulture and general welfare, always with full respect for the own orientation and socio-cultural backgrounds of the local communities and in function of the priorities who present the latter.

What we stand for

GROEP BAOBAB is geen “hulpgroep”. Onze betrachting is om samen met de mensen die wij leren kennen hebben oplossingen (hoe klein zij ook mogen zijn) te zoeken voor bepaalde problemen. Dit met de betrachting het hen zo makkelijk mogelijk te maken om zelf aan de toekomst van hun kinderen, dorpen en gemeenschap te gaan werken.

GROEP BAOBAB is geen druppel op een hete plaat, maar wel een zaadje dat zal uitgroeien tot een prachtige baobab….een zaadje dat later, evenals deze magische boom, energie zal opwekken voor een schitterende samenwerking tussen ons allen.

GROEP BAOBAB staat voor kleinschaligheid, no-nonsense aanpak, rechtstreekse samenwerking en ogenblikkelijke impact, persoonlijke contacten en permanente opvolging.
